The Charles F. Chapman Award for Excellence in Teaching is clearly the highest recognition award given to any individual in USPS
From Commander Susan Ryan:

It is with It is with the greatest pride that I announce to you that John Giddings has won National’s Charles F. Chapman Award for Excellence in Teaching.   Joe Lynch, our District Educational Officer, told me he had never read more impressive recommendations than those sent by Junior Navigators Joe Ballerini, Andy Cummings, Marie Genteale, Bob Henry, Bill Strong, and Russ Monaco.

This is a tremendous honor to John, to the squadron, to District 2 and to all his students and is the highlight of my term as commander. Thank you, John.

Successfully completing one of the USPS Public Boating Courses meets the educational requirements for boat operation in all states.

Boating Education

The Education Calendar has been updated for Winter 2010.  Please click the "education" link on the main menu, or visit our calendar of events for course information and schedule.  One of the main goals of the United States Power Squadrons is “boating safety through education”—we believe that an educated boater is a safer boater. USPS provides many skill building opportunities to the general public through a variety of courses, seminars, and marine-related guides. Our instructors are certified regarding their ability to teach and to use of modern instructional techniques.  All classes are fun and informative, and bring you into contact with other boaters.
